EHC Council To Hold Special Meeting Tonight


The Egg Harbor City Common Council will hold an emergency executive session to discuss public safety in the wake of two shootings in three days last week.
The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Egg Harbor City Municipal Building on London Avenue.
No action will be taken.
Jiampetti said the two shootings could be related, but the matter is under investigation.
Egg Harbor City police have not returned multiple messages asking for more information or comment.

(This meeting is closed to the public.  Citizens are reporting 4 possible gunshot incidents and a SUV burned by molotov cocktails)
Egg Harbor City Council has decided to hold a special, closed door meeting 6:30 pm tonight to discuss the events that have taken place since early Saturday morning.
While the meeting is closed door, many residents say they are going to city hall in hopes to be heard and to hear from the town's leaders as to what is going on.

Egg Harbor City News
Mayor Lisa Jiampetti addressed residents of Egg Harbor City tonight, who showed up for a closed city council meeting.
Mayor Jiampetti acknowledged the shootings at the Wawa on Chicago Ave early Friday morning, as well as the shooting on the 100 block of Washington Ave on Saturday afternoon. She stated that there were shots fired on Cincinnati Ave on Sunday evening followed by the Molotov cocktail on Washington Ave on Sunday night. Only two incident are known to be related, those being the Washington Ave. incidents, and they involved visitors the the residents of the incident. The Atlantic County Prosecutors Office has take the lead in these investigations.
It was stated that the Egg Harbor City Police will begin foot patrols on Philadelphia Ave.
They will also be hiring a Class "Two" officer soon, to be acting detective, as well as an administrative assistant to ease the burden of the paperwork put on the police.
We will be receiving outside assistance from Galloway Township Police who will be assisting Egg Harbor Coty Police with routine patrols and the use of two detectives when necessary. Also assisting the Egg Harbor City Police will be the Mullica Township, as well as the Hamilton Township Police department when available.
Further, the Atlantic County Sheriff's Department will be assigning officers to patrol Egg Harbor City, and this begin on Thursday.
