An Egg Harbor Township medical doctor was indicted Wednesday for a sexual assault and multiple counts of criminal sexual contact involving 18 victims in 2013 and 2014.
An Atlantic County grand jury
indicted Syed A. Jaffery, of Trotter Road in Egg Harbor Township, on 19
criminal counts, including one count of sexual assault using force or
coercion, a second-degree crime and 18 counts of fourth degree criminal
sexual contact, according to Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain.
Jaffery was named in a
four-count, state grand jury indictment for accepting kickbacks in
exchange for patient referrals, prosecutors said Tuesday.
Jaffery allegedly committed
criminal sexual contact against patients at his medical practice, using
force or coercion for the purpose of sexually arousing or sexually
gratifying himself as well as degrading or humiliating the victims,
according to the prosecutor’s office.
Jaffery also allegedly sexually penetrated one victim using force or coercion.
