The National Weather Service has issued a coastal flood warning for Atlantic, Cape May and Cumberland counties on Thursday.
Moderate to major coastal
flooding is likely beginning today and extending through the weekend
high tide cycles/ There is a coastal flood warning in effect until 6
p.m. Friday. There is also a coastal flood watch in effect from Friday
morning to Sunday afternoon.
The NWS says coastal flooding and
widespread minor tidal flooding is expected to occur in multiple
successive high tide cycles beginning today and tonight. Moderate tidal
flooding is expected to start Friday and could last into the weekend.
The flooding is expected to occur
for a few hours around the time of high tide, which occurs between 10
and 10:30 a.m. on the oceanfront and a little later on the back bays.
High tide will return around 11 p.m. tonight.
The coastal flooding is not in relation to Hurricane Joaquin that is making its way up the Eastern seaboard
