Illegal Dumper Caught

On October 28,2013, an article was posted about the Annual Jeep Clean Up.  Volunteers cleaned up trash from the Wharton State Forest.
Among other debris, there were bags of roof shingles that took 14 people four hours to load.

Now it has been reported that Selvin Lima, 31, of Trenton was recently arrested on charges that he dumped  the truckloads of shingles and other debris.  Lima faces a fine of as much as $10,000 for illegal disposal of solid waste, a second degree criminal charge.

Officials want to look at the existing legislation and increase the fines and look into jail time for future illegal dumpers.

A major crackdown on dumping will start next year and a prime focus will be to encourage citizens to watch out for and report illegal dumping.
