PPA Alert - Pipeline

South Jersey Gas is proposing to put a natural gas pipeline through a portion of the Pinelands Forest Management Area where such infrastructure is not permitted by Pinelands regulations.

This proposal would place 22 miles of 24 inch diameter pipeline through Atlantic, Cape May and Cumberland Counties.

Tell the state Pinelands Commission that they must respect their own rules and deny this request.

See link for info and meeting schedules:

Don't see anything wrong with the proposal. Maybe we ought to get on the bandwagon and petition the state to send more money to the pineland communities that must conform to pineland restrictions and have no way of increasing their tax base

I agree it would be nice if Pineland communities could receive some compensation because of all the restrictions.
I don't think the pipeline should go through the Pinelands. The link gives 3 very good reasons.
1. This type of project is forbidden in the Pinelands
2.There are alternatives to the proposed pipeline route.
3. It sets a bad precedent for other requests.
I hope the Pinelands always stay free from this type of intrusion.
