Houndfish
This year there seems to be a big influx of houndfish in New Jersey's waters. They are sometimes called crocodile needlefish fish because of their rows of razor like teeth and they have been known to leap out of the water and stab a person with their long beak like bills. They can grow up to five feet and weigh over ten lbs.
If you are in the midst of the hounds - the best thing to do is give them their space. If you catch a houndfish, it is critical to get the drag loosened or they will strip the reel. Be extremely careful if you try taking it off the hook.
