Republican Frank Formica, freeholder at large and chairman of the Atlantic County board, announced Thursday he intends to seek re-election in November.
Also running again are Republican Freeholders James Bertino of District 5 and Maureen Kern of District 2.
“I
invited the residents of Atlantic County to challenge us this election
season to ensure that we, along with our challengers, are addressing the
issues that are most important to them,” Formica said in a press
release. “There is no better way to witness your current Freeholder
representatives including myself as legislators in action than to attend
a Freeholder Board Meeting which are open to the public.”
The
Atlantic County Board of Freeholders has five members representing
their districts and four serving at-large. They are elected to staggered
three-year terms.
Earlier this week, Atlantic County Democrats announced their freeholder candidates. Celeste Fernandez, of Egg Harbor Township, will run for the at-large seat; Maureen Leidy, of Ventnor, in District 2; and Barbara Butterhof-Rheault, of Mullica Township, in District 5.
