Mullica School Garden Grants

AtlantiCare awarded 60 South Jersey primary and secondary schools Tuesday with grants to support school garden and wellness activities.
The AtlantiCare Healthy Schools, Healthy Children program gave elementary, middle and high schools in Atlantic, Cape May and Ocean counties received mini-grants totaling $51,000 to support new and existing school gardens and wellness activities for the 2017-2017 school year.
“We’re excited to continue supporting school gardening programs by awarding these mini-grants,” said Laura Engelmann, AtlantiCare community health and wellness manager.

Officials said the awards go to schools that demonstrated innovative initiatives aimed at encouraging physical activity and healthy eating habits among students, their families and school staff.
