Immigrant Protection Planned in Atlantic City

 Excerpts
ATLANTIC CITY — Nine city officials and community leaders stood Thursday afternoon in the lobby of City Hall with linked arms to advocate making the city a "fair and welcoming city.”
At a press conference held to introduce a coalition of groups that will address immigration policy, specifically during President Donald Trump's administration, the coalition announced it is working on crafting an ordinance to protect immigrants in the city and minimize fear of getting deported.

Councilman Moisse “Mo” Delgado said the immigration population in the city is “under attack” and it was up to city officials and community leaders to take a stand to advocate for new policy.
“We feel it necessary and deem it required of us as speakers of our community to speak up and mention that in the upcoming weeks, we will make moves and try to execute action,” he said.
Javier Soto, the vice president of Unite Here Local 54, was among the coalition of speakers and cited the need for this kind of policy to protect casino workers and their rights.
