Medical Records Seized In Kauffman Case

Patients of Dr. James Kauffman were left searching for a new doctor after Tuesday's arrest.

They also temporarily lost their medical records.
Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner announced that several medical files were seized from Kauffman's office as part of the investigation; and there is no timetable for their return.

"Because of the volume of the evidence, investigators are unable to return these medical files at this time," Tyner said in a statement. "Please be assured that every effort is being made to complete the investigative process as quickly and efficiently as possible."

Jerry Glickman, of Atlantic City, said that he was supposed to see Kauffman in the near future. Now, he's scrambling to find a new doctor.
"I don't want to say it's an emergency, but it's kind of a crisis," he said. "I was supposed to see him because of a medical issue."

Glickman said he called and left a message at the prosecutor's office Thursday morning.

Tyner said in his statement that any file deemed "to have no evidential value" will be returned as soon as possible. Files that are used as evidence will be copied and sent back to the owners.
