New School Officer Bill

Governor Chris Christie signed the measure that will create a new class of special law enforcement officers in schools and colleges. This special law enforcement agency will be made up of retired and former state officers who are younger than 65 years of age.
These Class Three Officers would be permitted to provide part-time security and will be allowed to carry handguns if they qualify under regulations. They would also be permitted to respond to emergencies and crimes off school grounds that occur in their presence while headed to work.
