The Atlantic County Animal Shelter will be giving away free dogs and cats between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on July 23 as part of a regional “Clear the Shelters” event.
“Clear the Shelters” began last year and led to the adoption of 77 animals from the animal shelter.
Regular adoption prices range
from $85 for cats and kittens to $110 for dogs and puppies. Those costs
include mandatory sterilization, age appropriate vaccinations,
diagnostic testing, a microchip and free veterinary consultation.
Canines adopted from the shelter are also provided two free obedience
classes.
“The significant savings should serve as an attractive incentive,” County Executive Dennis Levinson said in a statement. “I encourage residents who are considering pet adoption to visit our county shelter. If not on July 23 then perhaps another time, whenever they are ready to add a loving pet to their family.”
