Winter Storm Watch Issued

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for most of South Jersey, which is in effect from 7 p.m. Friday evening through 10 a.m. Sunday morning.

A watch means there is an increasing potential for significant snow.

PREPARE THE NEXT 2 DAYS: Regardless of how much snow falls(a few inches, lots of inches, a foot or more), this will be a high impact, long duration, and significant storm for South Jersey. Power outages are possible, widespread tidal flooding and beach erosion is likely along the shore, and increasingly difficult travel over the weekend as snow, sleet, and rain fall heavily at times. Tropical storm force wind gusts are likely along the shore, and while not as windy, the mainland will see gusty winds too. Any winds in conjunction with heavy snow can cause greatly reduced visibility, as well as additional power outages due to the weight of the snow on trees and power lines. Stay tuned to additional forecasts, which should be more specific as to the expected impacts in South Jersey.
