Joaquin Goes Out To Sea - No N.J. Impact

Hurricane Joaquin will stay well east of South Jersey, as the official track of the powerful hurricane is wide right and out-to-sea.  But while Joaquin will have no direct impacts on our weather, a "nameless" storm will still bring some occasional rain, gusty winds, tidal flooding, and beach erosion to the shore through the next 24-48 hours.

Occasional rain and drizzle will fall through Friday night, before tapering off over the weekend, which should see a slow drying trend.  The heavy, flooding rains will remain well to our southwest across the Carolinas, where over a foot of rain will fall.
The most problematic weather in South Jersey will be along the coast, and will be due to strong winds, widespread tidal flooding, and significant beach erosion.

Winds may gust from 35-45 miles-per-hour across all of South Jersey today, with 45-55+ miles-per-hour gusts most likely along the shore.  High wind warnings are also posted along the barrier islands and bays
