Pipeline Review Requested / Hagaman Honored

PEMBERTON TOWNSHIP — A longtime Pinelands Commissioner asked Friday to have the controversial South Jersey Gas pipeline application returned to the commissioners for a public hearing and vote.

“I’m not here to say yea or nay, but there are substantial issues here and the commission should have a role,” said Candace Ashmun at the monthly meeting of the Pinelands Commission.

Wittenberg said after the meeting the Attorney General’s Office will have to research whether the commissioners have the right to impose a moratorium.

Also on Friday the commissioners passed a resolution honoring the contributions of former Commissioner Robert Hagaman, of Mullica Township, who passed away Sept. 5.
Hagaman, a former Mullica mayor and school board member, was on the commission from 2002 to 2008, said Lohbauer. He served on the personnel and budget and land protection committees, he said.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 12 at 9:30 a.m. at Weekstown Community Church 5663 Pleasant Mills Road in Mullica.
