Mullica Woman's Death Ruled A Homicide

By LYNDA COHEN, Staff Writer
A Mullica Township woman was stabbed to death inside the home she shared with her boyfriend, an autopsy found.

Lois Collier, 56, was found dead inside the home at about 3:30 p.m. Thursday, after police received a 911 call reporting an unconscious woman at the residence on the 200 block of Weymouth Road.
The death has now been ruled a homicide, Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain said Friday, after an autopsy by Medical Examiner Gerald Feigin found Collier died of multiple stab wounds.
The home at the corner of Third Street in the sparsely populated neighborhood showed no signs of a crime. The only indication Friday that investigators had been there was a pile of yellow police tape on top of a bag of trash and other discarded items near a tree in the back yard.
Collier’s next-door neighbor said he knew the woman, but was not ready to talk about her. He asked that no one be on her property, saying, “This is not the time,” for questions about what happened.

Collier was a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, said niece Natasha Collier.
"To know my Aunt Lois was to love her," she said. "She's looking over us with that smile that lit up the room saying, 'Keep my family and friends in prayer because they're hurting and they're going to miss me.'"
She said her aunt would have said, "God said my life was already written."
That would have been followed by something silly to make everyone laugh, the younger woman said of her aunt.

Most neighbors along the sparsely populated road said they didn’t know Collier, but had seen some police activity Thursday evening.
Collier lived in the house, which tax records show is owned by Mark and Deborah Ann Holland.
Mark Holland was Collier’s longtime boyfriend, niece Lasownda Collier said. It was not clear what Deborah Ann’s relationship is.
Lois Collier and Holland had been together for 10 years, her niece said.
Collier’s Facebook profile picture is one of her and Holland together.
Lasownda Collier said she last saw her aunt at about 8 a.m. Thursday, when Lois Collier dropped off her grandson in Egg Harbor City.
Detectives from the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and Mullica Township police are investigating.

I haven't heard a word if they caught that migrant farm worker who stabbed another in a knife fight a few days ago. How does a blood covered, injured foreigner escape notice? The police could at least ease our minds and let us know if he was captured.

RIP Lois. Dear God, please don't let this be ANOTHER mystery murder in Mullica

Would it be too much to ask that a report/update to these questions be presented to the public by either the committee representative or the Chief? Folks are concerned and frightened and the government here is doing nothing as usual to reach out.Only real updates we get is Gadfly. What happened to the township new letter that used to be around years ago?
