Logan DeAngelis - R.I.P.

By DAVID WEINBERG, Staff Writer
Logan DeAngelis, a 17-year-old junior at Cedar Creek High School, passed away at 6:45 a.m. Wednesday at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, according to a post by his older sister, Ashleigh, on the Facebook page, "Fighting With Logan."

"I'm saddened to say my little brother, my hero and my new guardian angel took his last breath," Ashleigh DeAngelis wrote. "With me and my mom (Tina) holding his hands and my father (Vince) at his feet, he went fast, painfree and now he is finally at peace."

Logan DeAngelis, a resident of Green Bank, was first diagnosed with stage 4 glioblastoma brain cancer in August, 2013. After undergoing surgery, radiation and chemotherapy, the tumor remained stable for 18 months and the former Cedar Creek soccer player was able to return to classes at Cedar Creek last fall on a part-time basis. Eleven weeks ago, tests revealed the tumor was growing.
The entire Green Bank and Cedar Creek High School communities provided financial and emotional support during Logan's fight. The Cedar Creek girls novice four crew team designed "Logan Strong" T-shirts and sold them at the recent Atlantic County Rowing Championships.
The boys junior varsity four team has named their boat "Logan Strong."
Ashleigh DeAngelis, 19, a 2014 Cedar Creek graduate, was home-schooled during her senior year so that she could help care for Logan. When she went to her senior prom, Logan was her date.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
