Hammonton Hikes Water And Sewer Rates

At their regular meeting of February 23, the Hammonton Council unanimously approved the first reading of an ordinance for sewer and water rates that included a $255 rate increase for town water and sewer services.  The rate increase is needed to offset approximately $1.000,000 deficit in the department.  The annual total cost to Hammonton residents will be $595.  The total rate for Waterford township is $930 a year and for Winslow Township $742.
During the last four years, Hammonton has incurred approximately $10 million in debt for water and sewer projects.
