Straub Considers Renault Winery Purchase

About an hour after a federal judge ruled against him in a battle for the Revel Casino Hotel, Glenn Straub told the Press of Atlantic City that he is traveling to Renault Winery to consider a possible purchase of the resort. He also said he is pursuing property on seven blocks of Atlantic City.

Dennis Del Vecchio, COO of Renault Winery, later confirmed that Straub toured the property Tuesday.

I would like to see more investment in grape growing and wine making in the region. At one time, before peaches and before blueberries, grapes were a major crop in the area. The Finger Lakes region in NY has embraced this agriculture and industry and new businesses are coming there, in new vineyards, restaurants, winery tours, hotels, wedding halls, college classes in wine making and business development, new grape variety development, etc. This would be a good industry for New Jersey to give tax breaks to because it would mean new jobs in a depressed part of the state and increase land values. We shouldn't be putting all our hopes in reviving Atlantic City, which will never be what it once was for the region.
