Firefighters in Mullica Township were extinguishing a blaze at a home on Heidelberg Avenue this afternoon.
A
witness took photos on a cell phone showing flames poking through the
roof and smoke billowing from the windows of the home, which resembles a
log cabin.
Firefighters appeared to have the fire under control before 2 p.m.
The home was nestled in the woods near a rural intersection of Heidelberg Avenue and Moss Mill Road.
Brian
O’Shea was visiting his grandfather nearby when he smelled smoke and,
shortly later, saw a man on the porch yelling to call 911.
“He was trying to put it out with a garden hose. It wasn’t happening,” said O’Shea, of Absecon.
