North America’s oldest bird festival, the New Jersey Audubon’s Cape May Autumn Festival, soars into Cape May Convention Hall Friday, Oct. 24, through Sunday, Oct. 26.
Folks
who visit this area, known as North America’s most famous migratory
junction, will find a convention center aflutter with birding vendors
and exhibitors, live animals, family activities, plus about 200
varieties of birds soaring through the skies of Cape May.
Look
for live hawks and owls along with various exhibits. N.J. Audubon’s
Nature Center of Cape May will have live animals as well as a variety of
interactive nature discovery activities, a scavenger hunt, story time
and much more. Vendors will include optics and tour companies, wildlife
artists and publishers.
Keynote speakers include
naturalist Scott Weidensaul, author of “Living on the Wind” (Pulitzer
Prize finalist) and Cape May Bird Observatory’s director, David La Puma,
Ph.D. There will also be entertainment by the R. Bruce Reunion Tour.
Saturday there will be a young birders event, too, for those age 10 to
17.
Admission
is $5 for adults, $2 for children ages 6 to 12, and free for children
under age 6. Cape May Convention Hall is located at 714 Beach Ave. For
