Project 25, or P25, is a set
of standards for digital radio communications by all levels of
government public-safety agencies in North America.
P25-compliant
radios must be able to talk across different bands, so all levels of
police and fire rescue can talk to each other. The systems must be
encrypted for security, said Vincent J. Jones, director of Atlantic
County’s Department of Public Safety.
They
must be able to switch from conventional (analog) to digital
communications across different systems, he said, and to access a set of
national group channels “to talk if it warrants multiple agencies
(talking together), such as in Superstorm Sandy.”
“We are looking into all our options to make sure we spend the most reasonable amount,” Mullica Township Police Chief John Thompson said. His force needs about 30 radios, and estimates he has gotten are about $100,000, he said.
— Federal regulations to improve communications between emergency responders will force Egg Harbor City to spend an estimated $108,000 to replace its police radios by 2017.

become Project 25 compliant, Police Chief John McColgan said.

Higher taxes, a lot of money spent by a school board in a pinhead decision to fire a teacher, casinos closing and more to come, lack of casino construction jobs all are hitting hard. Now this big expense. I hope that our leaders are going to try to find a grant to help fund this mandate. I think the reality is the taxpayers will take another big hit. Anyone else notice the amount of homes for sale in this once desirable township?
you're forgetting the county mandated revaluation for next year and the automatic health insurance & contract raises, along with the radios. Maybe an extra $600,000 has be be found someplace.
Cut the Superintendent, the Principal and the Curriculumn coordinator. Their salaries plus benefits will save $450,000

www.Zillow.com has Mullica listed as
60 homes for sale by agents
3 Foreclosed
87 in Foreclosure
It's so sad that people are losing their homes.
I believe the County cannot actually require a revaluation but can only recommend one because a few weeks ago on WOND it was mentioned that Atlantic City years ago did not do a reval as the County requested . I aslo heard on WOND that due to the big hit the County has taken on casino revals we can expect to get 100% (the max) on the appraisals. It may be street rumors but it is not good news. I do feel bad about so many folks bu governments attitude is someone will always buy the house and pay the taxes and/or the foreclosures usually also sell. Its all about money and the greed that comes with it.
