Challenge Atlantic City Bike Race


                                                 SUNDAY, JUNE 29, 2014
 
TO THE RESIDENTS AND VISITORS OF THE TOWN OF HAMMONTON:
On June 29, 2014, we will be host to the 2nd event of the “CHALLENGE ATLANTIC CITY
TRIATHLON” and the “HAMMONTON BLUEBERRY FESTIVAL”. With the triathlon expected to bring
approximately 1500 bicyclists and the festival to bring in 10,000 visitors; please plan traveling time
around town appropriately. We will try our best to make your driving trips as seamless as possible,
but expect some delays. Come out and support your triathlete and enjoy the festival. All road
closures will be in effect from 7:00 am until 4:00 p.m. on June 29, 2014.
To The Residents of South 2nd Road:
South 2nd Road will be CLOSED from Route 54 to Weymouth Road. Residents and businesses
on the side streets will be able to cross at the intersections where a Police Officer and /or V
olunteer
will be posted. Vehicles will be directed across to continue on their way, there will be no turns
permitted onto South 2nd Road.
To The Residents of Weymouth Road:
Weymouth Road will be CLOSED from South 2nd Road to So. Egg Harbor Road. Residents
impacted by this closure are asked to plan ahead and utilize side streets near their homes for parking
the night before the event. Residents on 7th Street may proceed to Weymouth Road where they will
be directed by a Police Officer to South 1st Road to continue on their way
.
To The Residents of Egg Harbor Road:
Egg Harbor Road will be CLOSED from Bellevue Ave. to US Route 30. Residents impacted by
this closure are asked to plan ahead and utilize side streets near their homes for parking the night
before the event. We ask that when you park, obey traffic laws and be mindful of the other residents.
To The Residents of Columbia Road:
Columbia Road will be restricted to east bound traffic only from Middle Road to Pleasant Mills
Road. The west bound traffic will be restricted to bicyclists only. Residents are asked to plan trips
accordingly.
To The Residents of Route 206 South of Columbia Road:
Route 206 will be CLOSED from Columbia Road to US Route 30 for bicyclists. Residents are
asked to plan trips accordingly.
To The Residents of Bellevue Avenue:
Bellevue Avenue will be CLOSED from US Route 30 to Egg Harbor Road. Residents impacted
by this closure are asked to plan ahead and utilize side streets near their homes for parking the night
before the event. We ask that when you park, obey traffic laws and be mindful of the other residents.
Traffic from Colonial Court Apartments will be directed by a Police Officer to Elvins Avenue to continue
on their way for necessary travel.
To Travelers Coming Into Hammonton:
Traffic on US Route 30 will be restricted to one lane and upon the approach to Route 206. Route
206 North detours will be posted. Expect congestion from Fairview Avenue to Broadway Avenue on
US Route 30.

Vehicles traveling on US Route 30 from the Atlantic City area will have NO access to County
Road 602 (South Egg Harbor Road) from US Route 30.
Vehicles traveling North on Route 54 will have NO access to South 2nd Road. Route 54 North
will be channeled to a single lane up to South 2nd Road. Detours for Route 206 will be posted.
Expect congestion from Mays Landing Road to the Atlantic City Expressway overpass.
Vehicles traveling from Trenton area on Route 206 South, Middle Road will be closed to South
bound traffic. Route 206 will be closed from Colombia Road to US Route 30. Detours for Route 54
and US Route 30 will be posted.
The Hammonton Police Department is requesting all visitors and residents to please be patient
for these few hours. We are mindful of this inconvenience; but if approached correctly, all will run as
efficiently as possible. Thank you for your understanding.
