Challenge Alantic City Runs Through Mullica

BICYCLE RUNS THROUGH MULLICA TOWNSHIP

June 29, 2014 from 6 am – 4 pm – Challenge Atlantic City will be hosting a Bike Run through Mullica Township.  Traffic advisories for each town within the course are posted on the County’s web site at:  www.ac.ink.org/challengeAC
All roads will be open in Mullica Township However, the roads highly affected will be: From the Hammonton Line East Bound slow lane on the White Horse Pike (Route 30) to Elwood Road (County Route 623). Elwood Road North (County Route 623) to Pleasant Mills Road (County Route 643) Left towards Nesco Road (County Route 542) through areas of Hammonton and same route through Mullica a second time.
Please share the road and use caution while bicyclists are on the roadways.  If you have a problem with a bicyclist, obtain their participant number and contact the Police Department or the Municipal Clerk’s office on Monday following the event.  The number of the participant will be reported to the organization.

UPDATE - Fredrik Croneborg, of Sweden, won the overall title, swimming 2.4 miles in the back bays of Atlantic City, taking a 110-mile bike ride that extended to Hammonton and back and then running 26.2 miles in 8 hours, 31 minutes, 47 seconds on a day with pleasant conditions in which the temperature topped out in the low 80s.

It was called challenge Atlantic City and that's where they should have kept it. They basically cut Mullica in half by closing off all the main roads to get around. Also liked how much notice we were given that this was happening. It was all right to inconvience the western end of the county but I did not see the bike race running along the shore islands. You know we can't inconvience the tourists. Thanks Atlantic City great job

I'd also like to add to earlier comment in regards to Atlantic city. They organized this event to bring tourists and lots of crowds and money to AC. All the other towns involved had to spend money on traffic control probably o/t included for a weekend. Hopefully someone will tell us that money was provided by the event organizers to help defray costs. If not it's just another argument why some CRDA funds should be allocated for this instead of the huge waste of funding in AC for strange artwork, 3 bus stations over a 5 year period , etc etc.
