Security Breach At Michaels

MAYS LANDING - It's the nation's largest arts and crafts chain, and every day at Michaels, countless customers swipe their cards to pay for their crafts – but after learning that 2.6 million customer credit and debit cards, used at Michaels, may have been affected in a security breach, some customers in Mays Landing say they'll think twice about where they shop.

Christine Hagaman is a Mullica Township resident and frequent Michaels’ customer. Hagaman told NBC40 that on Thursday her bank account was compromised. "I just had to go to the bank now to dispute some fraudulent charges on my account. One was for $330 dollars and one was for $95 dollars," explained Hagaman. However, she says she doesn't know for sure if the charges on her account are from the Michaels’ breach

Hagaman urged other shoppers, "Be careful and check your account every day and when you can, use cash so this doesn't happen. So that you don't get charges on there that you didn't do.

Officials say the Michaels store in Mays Landing was exposed between May 8th and July 29th of last summer.
