Mascio Hearing Set For May 7th.

MULLICA TOWNSHIP — An arbitration hearing date has been set for May 7 for suspended kindergarten teacher Kelly Mascio, said Mullica Township Education Association President Barbara Rheault.
“The arbitrator decided there was enough evidence to hear the case for potential disciplinary action,” Rheault said. The arbitrator could have dismissed the case, she said.

Under the state TEACHNJ tenure reform law, the arbitrator will have 45 days from completion of the hearing to issue a decision.

Rheault said the hearing may continue May 15 and May 16 if additional time is needed, and Rheault expects to be called to testify.

Mascio has been suspended since Sept. 30, after two of her students came out of an in-classroom bathroom together and said they had engaged in sexual play.
She reported the incident to a principal, but was immediately suspended with pay.

Vineland attorney Ned Rogovoy, who said about 40 percent of his work is representing teachers for the New Jersey Education Association, has said the arbitrator will have a range of options beyond the two extremes of either allowing Mascio to be fired or reinstating her with back pay for the suspension time.
The arbititrator could decide she should be disciplined to a lesser extent, such as by losing a pay increment raise, or by absorbing the loss of income from the suspension.

Rheault said it will be up to the arbitrator, who is assigned by the state commissioner of education, whether it will be conducted in Trenton, Mullica Township or another location.

Not for anything, but does the Mullica Township Board of Education realize that THEY are the bosses of Brenda Harring -Marro and not the other way around? They have the right and many times obligation to JUST SAY NO!

Hopefully she does not continue to brag about making it to superindendent after having a 760 or something like that SAT score. She always brags on that at awards nights.

Regarding the Maryanne Wyld comments down low. Of course Maryanne will defend her on here. Marro hired her neice. Politics isn't that?

I don't see any politics here @4:05 pm. So what they hired her niece. What about the other 50 teachers who have family members also working there? What does that have to do with anything... again people talking who know NOTHING.

50 out of around 72 teachers? I think not, unless you are using Marro math, where 93% is a small group.

Didn't know teachers had the power to hire people! talk about not knowing?

It's the POINT of it. Just saying that someone is running their mouth when they have no IDEA what they are talking about. Small attacks get you no where. Keep throwing stones and let me know where that gets you.

You need to know that someone is trying to start something that isn't even there. It's pretty sad when people like to run their mouths and not think before they speak.

Oooo oh no 12:20 must be an idiot an idiot for saying "50". I have to go as far as saying that you missed the point 11:13. I'm pretty sure 12:20 said it to get a point across not trying to be so accurate on a number. All I can do is just feel bad for someone who tries to take words and twist them for their own pleasure of trying to bring someone down. There are people who disagree with each other. It is the human way of things. What's not human is the way everyone is going to the all time lows to make each other angry and turn this into a battle ground. What ever anyone says someone has to run with it. Shame just a shame.
