NBC40 At BOE Meeting 3/19/14

In only a weeks time, the petition being submitted to the Board of Education, asking that they not renew Brenda Harring-Marro's contact which is up in June, has over 720 signatures.  It is sure to gain many more in the coming weeks.  93% of the 107 members of the MTEA presented a no confidence vote in the Superintendent based on lack of management, high staff turn over, decrease in test scores and loss of the talented and gifted program.

A packed, standing room only crowd listened and clapped as people called for the removal of Marro, asked for her resignation or to have her fired.

One lone person interviewed by NBC 40 had confidence in Marro.
"There are a lot of people in Mullica Township that believe as I do that the school and this superintendent are fully capable to make the right decision and only have the best interest of the students not the teacher," said Larry Riffle, Mullica Twp. Resident.

NBC40 didn't find Riffle. He walked to the front of the room and approached them. I don't believe he's expressing confidence in Marro but trying to defend his daughter on the school board who voted to certify the tenure charges against Kelly.

Riffle sits on the Mullica committee with Rheault. Opposite parties. Could be he has a political axe to grind by coming out against her.

Not sure what Riffle has in mind about Rheault but he just won re-election without much campaigning and w/o doing very much with his department supervision. Seems he is against the teachers with the NBC40 interview. Residents who voted for him and his daughter should be upset with themselves for putting these folks in power.
I also agree that the schools ,staff, and programs were the main reason folks like ourselves moved to Mullica and put up with the high taxes, poor cellphone service, lack of community events and service,no public water and sewer etc But we can still take our stuff to the Dump can't we? Don't count on Wawa to come running when we can't even keep the pizza parlor on the pike open.

I saw the video of this on the morning news.I was stunned. If this is a political axe,Mayor Brown has nothing to do with it.
The Mayor appealed to the BoE at the last meeting to reinstate Kelly and put an end to this mess.He wanted the community to heal.
That was before we all found out that it was too late and the charges were certified.
The typical Brown/Riffle alliance does not apply to this case.

Lori Kelly (Riffle's daughter) had the Republican back her and they handed out business cards for their voters to write her name on the ballot. She got around 80 votes in 2011 and thanked the Repub Club for the win.
Her term is up this year.

To the 12:44pm post I assume is correct about Brown BUT as Mayor and as head of his party he needs to reign Riffle in a bit and at the very least advise him to tone it down for the good of the community and the committee . This stuff is going to start snowballing.
Im also appalled at the 204pm post about The Republican party openly getting involved in the school board election. Guess a lot of folks followed the party line blindly and look what has happened.

I missed the video and NBC40 hasn't put it on their page. It's already snowballing on Lori Kelly. A lot of the people who got her in,now support Mascio. I doubt that she runs again. Matos and Watson's terms are also ending this year. I hope they do the right thing and end Marro's reign of terror.
