Senate Rules Change
Recently, Republicans have blocked three of President Barack Obama's nominee's to the US Court of Appeals for the DC District Court, as well as Mel Watt (D- NC ) to head the Federal Housing Finance Agency.
Senate rules required a 3/5 majority to confirm executive and judicial nominees.
Democratic Senate Majority Leader, Harry Reid, announced a proposal that requires only a simple majority vote. The Senate passed the measure by a 52 - 48 vote today.
Minutes after the vote to change the rules, the Senate voted to advance the nomination of Patricia Millet, one of the DC Circuit Court judge potentials by a 55 -43 vote. Before the rules change she would have needed 60 votes to move through.
This new rule change will not apply to Supreme Court nominees or the passage of ordinary legislation.

Another power grab by the White House and Harry Reid. The Senate is responsible for blocking radical appointments by any President. This is a very troublesome power grab that had the same people in power today rallying against the change only 6 years ago.
The rules have been in place for 100 years........the people will punish the party in power for outrageous power grab.
This is very dangerous. The founding fathers created the 3/5 majority rule for a reason.The Dems can now pack the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. This court is second in power to the Supreme Court.
The Dems have to get the courts ready for all the Obamacare lawsuits :)
