Teacher Evaluations

Public school teachers in New Jersey have begun the first year of state mandated evaluations that could affect their tenure or job status.
In Mullica Township this month all students took an online test in math and language arts to set a base line for performance.
Superintendent Brenda Harring-Marro said they explained to students and parents that the test is not being graded but would be used to help teachers do a better job.
"It is beautiful if it all works out," Marro said.  "Teachers won't overemphasize what students already know, and it gives us the opportunity to individualize instruction to their needs."
