Overdose Prevention Act
The Overdose Prevention Act was passed by the N.J. Legislature with bipartisan support and was signed into law by Gov. Chris Christie.
The law grants immunity from arrest and prosecution to people who call 911 to report an overdose even if they are on drugs themselves. The idea behind this being encouragement for people to seek aid for overdose victims without fear of being charged for drug offenses.
