More on our US Senate

In an unprecedented move yesterday, the U.S. Senate, OUR U.S. Senate, unbelievably spent 56 seconds giving 7 time convicted felon Ted Stevens (R-Alaska), a standing ovation. A STANDING OVATION!!!!! What has happened to our one time great country? At what point in the past 8 years did our moral standing, our integrity, our decency leave us? Is this the result of reality TV shows, the Bush Administration or our nations desire to be rich and famous without having any actual talents, abilities or integrity? Or, all of the above. How is it that our nationally elected leaders can bring themselves to stand and clap for a man who subverted the law, his powerful position, his Alaskan constituents not to mention all Americans everywhere for personal, financial, material gain??? How? Can someone please explain this to me? To borrow a line from Rachael Maddow, can someone please talk me down?

Our nationally elected leaders, bankers, local officials and it seems anyone given alittle power, must have the belief that all these illegal financial or material gains are perks of the office they hold. Why spend millions of dollars campaigning for a job that pays so much less unless you get some of the side benefits?
It looks like our Senate felt the loss of one of their own. How outragous that the law interfered with the game! It has become so commonplace to ask for things, accept things or do things illegally, that the remaining group has a lot of sympathy toward the apprehended person and anger at the people that dared to expose the dirty games they play.
Evil exists when good people do nothing! That is why freedom of speech is so important. Good, honest people must be informed of what is happening. The more people that know what's going on, the less it can be ignored by the legal authorities, unless they, too, want to implicate themselves in the dirty deeds.
