MULLICA SCHOOL 2006 STATE TEST SCORES

GadFly will be posting the grade by grade test scores from the ‘New Jersey State Assessment Report 2006. The State Test (New Jersey Assessment of Skills and Knowledge – ASK) was a new test and many had been led to believe that the 2006 test was merely a trial to work out kinks in the test...that did not prove to be the case however. But, all schools were in the same position and thus a comparison gives insights as to where various school Districts are in comparison to other New Jersey School Districts. GadFly will post grade by grade the Mullica scores for Literacy and Math and in some cases the test included Science. Having posted the Reading and Math scores for the 3rd and 4th Grade, and the Science scores for the Mullica’s 4th graders GadFly now posts the scores for MULLICA 5th Graders Mathematics. The Language Arts Literacy for 5th graders having also been posted

(Note; Mullica had no students in the 5th grade that were Pacific Islander or American Indian/AK Native)

It is noted that the No Child Left Behind parameters require a break down into various ethnic, economic and other groupings. It should also be noted that for the 5th Grade Mathematics test the State average percent who passed was 81.7%. Mullica 5th graders performed above the State average with 83.2% passing the Math test. The State average failure on this test was 18.3% and Mullica 5th graders had only 16.9% failing the Math Test. GadFly notes again that this grouping is slightly different in terms of make up than the previous year when they were in the 4th Grade when 84 students made up that grouping and this year in 5th grade the grouping is 90 students. But here again we see a startling decline in Math test scores. In 2005 only 9.5% failed the Math Test. That compares with a failure rate for this slightly different grouping in the 2006 in the 5th Grade of 16.9% While it is true that with a such a small number of students an increased failure rate of just a few reflects more dramatically when presented as percentages...this still raises concerns.
