Mascio Tenure Hearing Ends

The arbitrtation hearing in the tenure charges against suspended Mullica Township kindergarten teacher Kelly Mascio ended Thursday, Mullica Township Education Association President Barbara Rheault said.

“We are extremely confident that Kelly will prevail,” said Rheault, who attended the hearing as Mascio’s union representative.
Both sides will file briefs by the end of May, and then the arbitrator will issue a decision, Rheault said.
The hearing in front of a state Department of Education arbitrator was private and held under American Arbitration Association rules, but the arbitrator’s decision will be made public. It must be issued within 45 days of the hearing’s end, according to the TEACHNJ tenure reform law.
