ATLANTIC CITY— Miss New York Nia Imani Franklin was crowned the new Miss America Sunday night.
Crowned as the first Miss America since the rebranding of Miss America 2.0, Franklin, 25, received the crown from Miss America 2018 Cara Mund.
"I'm feeling really blessed right now," she said on stage. "It took a lot of perseverance to get here."
Franklin sang in the talent portion. She studied music composition at East Carolina University and graduated in 2015.
