Plea Deal Hearing for Imran Awan 7/3

 Excerpts
On Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan granted a request from federal prosecutors to set a plea hearing on July 3 for Imran Awan — the former IT aide — and his wife, Hina Alv. Awan is in big trouble in the “espionage” case, and the hacker is begging for a plea deal.
The filing from federal prosecutors didn’t reveal any details about the terms or conditions of the agreement, but said the two parties are currently working to reach a deal in the explosive case involving former Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Shultz and other top House Democrats.

Awan, who previously served as Wasserman Shultz’s IT aide, was arrested earlier this year on charges of financing terror back home in Pakistan. The specific charges against Awan also are not clear, as he has not been charged for breaching one-in-five House Democrats’ systems in Congress, stealing equipment and taking it home, or any of his other illegal actions.
As such, many believe that the government will offer him a favorable plea deal in exchange for information on Wasserman Shultz and other democrats who may have been aware of his hacking, illegal activity, and money laundering.
Awan controlled the network servers and managed office IT for democrat members of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and others.

Awan was exposed more than a year ago for his alleged illegal activity on Congressional data networks. He has been accused of bank fraud and money laundering connected to terror groups in Pakistan. Awan was a senior IT aide for Wasserman Shultz until he was found guilty last year of wiring money to terrorists.
