Violence / Bullying in Schools

Don't think that moving to Hunterdon or Ocean counties will free you from the violence and bullying that's plagued other districts. That goes for charter schools, too.
Various school districts throughout the state – from the impoverished to the bucolic – found themselves near the top of the state Department of Education's 2018 list of public schools with bullying and violent episodes.
The figures, compiled annually from data received from school districts across the state, were recently released by the Department of Education as part of its 2016-17 district performance reports.
Below are all the districts with the combined rate of violence, vandalism, weapons, drug use and bullying per 100 students. Below that is the list of districts that reported bullying incidents.

The state education commissioner is required to report the number of incidents as part of the annual report. The Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act in 2011 require schools to report an additional category of incidents involving harassment, intimidation and bullying, otherwise known as "HIB."
