An
investigation by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Gangs, Guns
and Narcotics Unit, the FBI and other federal state and local law
enforcement resulted in the arrests of five men and the seizure of more
than 120 folds of heroin, seven semiautomatic handguns, a loaded .40
caliber semi-automatic Glock and multiple ammunition magazines, Tyner
said.
On
April 30, Burrell pleaded guilty to charges including acting as the
leader of a narcotics trafficking network, distribution of heroin,
conspiracy to distribute heroin, hindering apprehension and weapons
charges.
As a part of the plea deal, Burrell
admitted to directing, taking orders and setting the prices for multiple
sales of heroin in Egg Harbor City and possessing a community gun in
Mullica Township in 2017, Tyner said in a news release. Burrell also
admitted giving Galloway Township police a false identity in 2016 and
selling more than a half-ounce of heroin in 2015.
Burrell has been held in the Atlantic County jail since his arrest.
