Ever since nor'easter number
3 began last Tuesday, nor'easter 4 has been in the works. On Tuesday
morning, it will start, as two low pressure systems pass by on Tuesday
and Wednesday. It's a 1-2 punch of wintry weather for the area. Here is
what is in effect for South Jersey:
- Winter Storm Watch
- Coastal Flood Watch
- Storm Warning (coastal waters)
A wintry mix will start between
6 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Tuesday. A wintry mix will then continue all
throughout the day. Toward Cape May, it will be mostly rain. Toward
western Atlantic and Cumberland counties, it will be mostly sleet.
However, when it comes down heavy, do not be surprised to see wet snow
or heavy sleet fall, regardless of location. It will be raw and slick.
Highs do not get out of the mid-30s with a strong northeast wind.
On
Tuesday night, the precipitation will lighten up in between the two
systems. It should be mostly rain for us. As the second low pressure
system makes its way in, rain will slowly change over to a wintry mix
during Wednesday morning. By the early afternoon, it is snowing, heavy
at times. Snow will then exit during the evening.
Millville to Egg Harbor City to Little Egg Harbor on northwest will see 4 to 8 inches of sleet and snow combined.
On Tuesday morning, coastal waters will still be below flood stage.
Starting during the Tuesday evening high tides (9 p.m. to 11 p.m.)
flooding will begin, continuing until at least the Thursday morning high
tides. The Tuesday evening high tide will be in minor flood. Wednesday
will be more of a concern though. Moderate flood stage is in the
forecast.
