US Sanctions

We often hear the phrase "sanctions will be imposed" by government officials and we really don't know what happened after that.
Today, the Dept. of the Treasury, Office of Foreign Assets Control released a Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons List.
The list contains 1,108 PAGES of names of persons and entities whose property is blocked to assist the public in complying with the various sanctions programs administered by the OFAC.
Blocked vessels and aircraft start on page 1100. Financial institutions are instructed to reject any funds transfer referencing a blocked vessel or aircraft.
Just scanning down the pages will give you some idea of the scope of work being done to prevent financial transactions.
