FOIA Request for FISA Applications

Reporters Adam Goldman and Charlie Savage, along with David E. McCraw,Vice President & Assistant General Council of The New York Times,620 Eight Ave. and John  Langford of Hannah Block-Wehba, Media Freedom & Information Access Clinic have submitted a Freedom of Information Act request for documents relating to the FISA applications made to the United States Intelligence Surveillance Court in Washington, DC. concerning the Nunes Memo.

The 11 page request outlines why the Court should release the applications.

Excerpts
"....Publication would contribute to an informed debate about the propriety of the government's FISA application, including whether the government abused it's surveillance authority. "
" It would enable the public to meaningfully evaluate and participate in the ongoing Congressional debate."
"Majority members of the House Intelligence Committee offer one characterization of the warrant applications, while minority members have offered a competing characterization.  Without the underlying application material, the public is prevented from assessing the relative merits of each position, and will be unable to assess the merits of any additional actions taken by the Committee."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So, we are awaiting the release the the Democratic Memo which will supposedly dispute the findings in the Nunes FISA Memo which was released on Friday.  Without the release  of the Court warrant applications upon which these memos are based, we will not know who is telling the truth.  Who will fight the release the of applications?  I guess anyone who doesn't want us to know the truth.
