Freeholders to Consider More Cameras at Harborfields

The Atlantic County Board of Chosen Freeholders will consider a resolution Tuesday to allocate $27,580 of county money to buy extra security cameras at the Harborfields Youth Detention Center.
Harborfields gained notoriety last month after four of the eight inmates kept there escaped from the facility, including one person who is accused of murder in a 2016 killing in Bridgeton.

Atlantic County Executive Dennis Levinson said after the escape that one of the security guards had broken protocol and went into the locked area where the inmates are without any backup.
The facility is paid for by the county, but is run by the state.
