September 26, 2017
On this date at 9:08am, officers were dispatched to the area of Route 30 and Hamburg Avenue for a call of a motor vehicle accident involving an oil truck. Officers arrived and found two large vehicles, one being a fuel delivery truck heavily damaged. The driver of the fuel truck, a Lenord Riley 52 of Mays Landing, parked his vehicle in front of a residence on Route 30 to make a delivery. The second vehicle, a large box truck, operated by a Kenneth Rowe 53 of Mt. Laurel was travelling West on Route 30 when he struck the rear of the fuel truck that was parked in the roadway. Remarkably, Rowe only sustained minor injuries. Riley was out of the vehicle making the fuel delivery at the time of the collision. Route 30 West Bound was closed for approximately 2 hours during the cleanup process. The Elwood and Egg Harbor City Fire Departments responded, as did the Atlantic County Hazardous Materials Response Team. Both drivers were issued a summons in this incident, Riley was issued a summons for improper parking and Rowe was issued for Careless Driving.
