NJ Raises Legal Smoking Age to 21

(CNN)New Jersey is set to become the third state to raise its smoking age to 21, after Republican Gov. Chris Christie signed a bill Friday that hikes the minimum age to buy tobacco products from 19.

New Jersey's new law applies to e-cigarettes, as well as conventional tobacco products, and triggers fines against anyone who sells, gives or offers such products to someone younger than 21.

So kids aren't mature enough to smoke or drink until they are 21 but the government will take them at 17 to fight and die in the military. That said, only people over 21 should be allowed to enlist.
