CCHS Girls Basketball Team On To Second Round

Excerpts
EGG HARBOR CITY — The Cedar Creek High School girls basketball team built a sturdy first-half lead Monday in its South Jersey Group II first-round playoff game against Audubon.

The visiting Green Wave stayed in it in the third quarter, but Cedar Creek pulled away to win 47-29.
Jazzy Duverglas, a 5-foot-9 forward, scored 14 points for the Pirates, including 11 in the first half as Cedar Creek went up 27-12. Sarah Tomasello, a 5-8 guard, had 13 points for the winners, including six in the fourth quarter. Erika Tanko, a 5-6 guard and the team’s only starting senior, added 12 points, including eight in the second half.
Cedar Creek (13-12), the No. 6 seed, will travel to third-seeded Manchester Township (21-5) on Wednesday in a quarterfinal game at a time to be determined. Manchester overpowered 14th-seeded Camden 87-18 Monday in a first-round game.

“They (Audubon) weren’t very fast-paced, and I think we played a little bit down to them,” said Duverglas, a 17-year-old junior from Mullica Township. “I feel like we could have pushed them more. We did play pretty well, but we still have stuff to work on.”
