Mullica Bond Proposals Waiting An Answer

 Excerpts
Two area school bond referenda failed at the polls Tuesday, but one district is hoping outstanding absentee and provisional ballots can reverse the result.

Officials in Mullica Township are waiting for the results of almost 300 provisional and absentee ballots to see whether a bond referendum for repairs there, which also narrowly failed at the polls, might still pass.

In Mullica, the first question for roofing, windows, electrical, masonry, sewer and wall reconstruction work at both schools failed by just 15 votes — 1,169 to 1,154. That question would cost almost $2.9 million with $1.3 million coming from the state.
The second question for a new parking lot, doors, HVAC, lighting and other work would cost $1.9 million with the state providing $637,837. That question failed by a vote of 1,215 to 1,039.
