League of Municipalities Conference In Atlantic City

Excerpts
Local officials can get continuing education credits to find out, at a panel on “The Benefits of Laughter in Government” at the New Jersey League of Municipalities' conference here this week.

Almost 20,000 elected and appointed local officials will converge on the resort to learn about improving how they run their towns.

Mullica Township Mayor Jim Brown, the president of the Atlantic County Mayors Association, said he will attend two days and many workshops.

He’s particularly looking for information on new Pinelands Commission and state Department of Environmental Protection regulations.
But the important thing is meeting his peers, he said.

“You see people you’d probably never meet in your career, but you talk to them by phone or email,” Brown said of other officials in the state. “You get to meet them face to face. That gives you a different feeling of who you are talking to.”

I find it horrifying that Jim Brown considers being Mayor of Mullica as his "career".
