Last Chance to Register To Vote 10/18

TRENTON — New Jerseyans who wants to cast a ballot in the Nov. 8 general election have until Tuesday to register.
New Jersey doesn't have online voter registration, so residents must mail or hand deliver their registration forms.
Forms are available through the state Division of Elections website, at county board of elections, at municipal town halls, and at social services agencies such as motor vehicle offices.
Many county offices will have extended evening hours Tuesday for registration.
To register to vote in New Jersey, you must be 18 years old by the election and a resident of the county for 30 days before the election. You must also be a U.S. citizen and cannot be currently serving a sentence, probation or parole because of a felony conviction.
The polls are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Election Day.

People who can't or don't want to vote in person face a Nov. 1 deadline to apply for a mail-in ballot, according to the division's website. County registration forms may be found here. Overseas Civilians and Military Voters have until Nov. 4 to obtain an electronic ballot.

In addition to the headline-grabbing presidential election, the Nov. 8 ballot in New Jersey will ask voters to decide two questions.

The first is a highly publicized fight over expanding gaming to north Jersey. If approved, the state Constitution would be amended to allow two casinos in the northern part of the state.

A second ballot question asks voters to amend the Constitution to dedicate all revenue from a new 23-cent-per-gallon increase in the gasoline tax to transportation projects.
Gov. Chris Christie signed a bill Friday raising the tax for the first time since 1988. It is expected to take effect Nov. 1.
