Shot AC Officer In Critical Condition


ATLANTIC CITY- Law enforcement officials across the county searching for five people in connection with an early Saturday morning shooting that critically injured an Atlantic City police officer.
The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office said Saturday afternoon that two uniformed Atlantic City police officers exited their patrol vehicle at about 2:30 a.m. Saturday to approach a group of men engaged in criminal activity near the Casears casino parking garage.
One officer was shot and injured as he exited his vehicle, Acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Diane Ruberton said in a news release. The second officer returned fire and hit at least one suspect.
All of the suspects fled in different directions, the injured suspect was found about 1.5 blocks away on Missouri and Pacific avenues. He collapsed and died there. Five other suspects are still wanted. Police have not identified the suspect who was killed.
