Fireworks Are Illegal In NJ

Just like everything else, the majority of people are law abiding citizens but a few think they are above the law or think the laws are stupid.  They want their fun and excitement regardless of the grief, stress and pain they cause others, especially, Vets with PTSD
This weekend is the busiest of the year for all the animal shelters.  Please put collars on your dogs with your address and phone number in case they run away.  Bring in any animals you can for a few days.  Keep checking on any pasture animals.  They could pose a threat to human life if they break their fences and run terrified into a roadway.

For those of you who are planning to light up your stockpile, please read the following.  Hopefully, you'll throw your stash in a bucket of water and do yourself and the rest of us a favor.

The sale, exposure for sale, use, distribution or possession of fireworks or pyrotechnic in the state of N.J., except as provided by law, is declared to be against the public health, safety and welfare of the people of the state of N.J.

Sparkler and novelty items, such as cigarette loads, trick matches, trick noise makers, smoke grenades, toy propellants, snaps and pops, poppetts and champagne poppers, as well as firecrackers, roman candles, rockets, etc., are all illegal in New Jersey

Any person who purchases, uses, discharges, causes to be discharged, ignites, fires or possesses any fireworks is a petty disorderly persons offense. Any person found guilty of using fireworks illegally can be fined up to $500 and/or imprisoned for up to 30 days. Any person found guilty of possessing fireworks with the intention of selling them, can be fined up to $10,000 and/or imprisoned up to 18 months.

Every year, children and adults are burned or permanently maimed by the illegal use of fireworks.  If you don't care about the innocent people or animals you could hurt, then just think about all the big, fat lawsuits that could haunt you the rest of your life for your 1 minute of excitement.

Please, don't endanger yourself, children or friends.  Don't put yourself at risk for a criminal charge or jail time
Don't be stupid!  Go to an official event and have a great time.
