EHC Fatal Motorcycle Crash

EGG HARBOR CITY — A 43-year-old Mays Landing man died in a head-on crash between his motorcycle and an automobile early Sunday evening on a quiet street that parallels the railroad tracks.
Jodi S. Lynd, a volunteer firefighter in the Cologne Fire Company in Hamilton Township, was traveling eastbound on Atlantic Avenue when his motorcycle collided with an automobile driven by Myrna Mercado, 61, of Egg Harbor City, said Lt. Dylan Hutton.

It happened on Atlantic Avenue near the intersection with Havana Avenue, according to the police report.

Atlantic Avenue is a 25 mile-per-hour road that doesn’t attract a lot of traffic, and speed doesn’t seem to be a factor, Hutton said.
Police are reviewing security camera footage from the nearby Tri State Towing & Transport facility, to see if it can be determined which vehicle crossed the center line of the road, he said.

Mercado was not injured, but went to the hospital at the request of police and consented to a blood withdrawal, Hutton said.
Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call Egg Harbor City Police Department at 965-2901.
